Is it flying really the best way to travel?

After a 48 hours trip (literally), and dealing with lost luggage, mean flight attendants and endless lines of people waiting to be rescued, I asked myself, is it really flying the most efficient way of traveling? I mean, is this the best that the brightest engineers of the world have to offer to take us from one place to another?

To be honest I have my doubts, on top of that it seems like the actual developments being done are more focused on improving the quality of the materials, fuel efficiency or passengers capacity rather than other more essential issues. What we really need is something  completely different because flying has become as overcrowded a Mardi Gra parade in rush hour.

Some time ago I found something on the Internet and although I'm not sure of its feasibility in terms of making it a reality for intercontinental flights, it is by far much more attractive than spending 10 hours in a stinking seat to go from Philadelphia to Rome, I'm talking about the Vactrain , I know it sounds like a super-hero but don't tell me that it wouldn't be cool to fly from New York to London in the time that it takes you to fix dinner.

Avionics and its market policies are something from the past, we need a new solution now. Engineers of the world, free yourselves from the oppression of the airliners executives and bring everything that you have inside to create a way of transportation more adequate for the twenty-first century.

¿Es el avión la forma óptima de viajar?

Después de meternos entre pecho y espalda un viaje de 48 horas (de reloj) y lidiar con equipaje pérdido y numerosas incidencias de todo tipo me pregunto, ¿es el avión la forma óptima de viajar? Quiero decir, ¿es ésto lo mejor que los ingenieros del mundo pueden ofrecernos para ir de un sitio a otro? La verdad es que tengo mis dudas, además parece que las mejoras en este campo van más dirigidas a la eficiencia de los modelos en aspectos como la eficiencia del consumo, la resistencia de los materiales, la capacidad, etc.. Cuando lo que necesitamos es algo completamente distinto porque la aviación civil está empezando a ser como los trenes de cercanías del aire en hora punta. Hace ya algún tiempo encontré algo en Internet, y aunque desconozco cúales son las posibilidades reales de hacerlo realidad a gran escala para viajes intercontinentales desde luego que la idea es mucho más atractiva que pasarte 10 horas en una butaca para ir de Philadelphia a Roma, estoy hablando del Vactrain, si ya se que parece el nombre de un superhéroe pero echadle un vistazo y no me digáis que no sería guay ir de Madrid a Nueva York en lo que tardas en ir al centro desde Alcobendas y aparcar el coche... La aviavión civil y sus metodos de explotación comercial se ha quedado anticuada, necesitamos una nueva solución ya. Ingenieros del mundo liberaos de la opresión de los ejecutivos de marketing y sacad lo que lleváis dentro para crear un transporte digno del siglo XXI
